At the piano

Vladimir Rumyantsev

He debuted at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory at seven years old. Since then: Carnegie Hall, Covent Garden, the Mariinsky under Gergiev, the Bolshoi. The New York Times called his Diabelli Variations excellent; The Wall Street Journal called them potent. Most recently he toured the world with Twyla Tharp Dance for her Diamond Jubilee.

Steinway Artist

Since 1743

Chopin spent his life in Paris among the same elite who made champagne fashionable. Two legacies of European artistry, poured and played in one room.

Your host

Daniel Zinn interrupts the recital with the amusing and revealing bits — who Chopin wrote these pieces for, and why. Questions welcome at the end.
